Romsley Hill, c. 1950

Romsley Hill
In 1777 a further Act of Parliament enabled the trustees of the Bromsgrove to Dudley turnpike to alter the route of the road at Gorsty Hill, Furnace Hill and Romsley Hill. Part of the old road going straight up Romsley Hill is still visible as a track branching off to the left above the Fighting Cocks Inn. The new road provided an easier gradient for wagons climbing Romsley Hill, which was described in the Act as "very steep and dangerous".
