Village School, Romsley

In 1849, Lord Lyttelton gave a plot of land on Bromsgrove Road, Romsley, for the erection of a new village school. The cost was to be £180 and a grant of £25 was secured from the National Society for the Education of the Poor in the Principles of the Established Church. The National School opened in 1853 with places for 84 pupils, whose parents were charged 3d per week. The first headmaster was William Eacott.
