William Wagstaff (coalman), Romsley
The cottage on the left of this postcard of Bromsgrove Road belonged to Romsley's coalman, William Wagstaff. He used to collect the coal from Hunnington Station and deliver it by horse and cart to each house. He also kept a cow on the two fields to the east of Romsley Hill where his brick and tiled barn has only recently disappeared. His son Leonard later ran the coal business using a Chevrolet lorry. |
