Newhouse Farm, Romsley
The name of Newhouse Farm suggests that it was built, like Fieldhouse Farm, onformer common arable land. This became possible if a farmer could purchase or exchange enough strips of land to fence it in without disrupting the rotation of crops in the remainder of the common fields. This 16th century timber framing, formerly visible on the back of Newhouse Farm, shows just how early Romsley's landscape was transformed by enclosure. |
