In 1968, Newhouse Farm was threatened by a plan to built a huge storage reservo ir inthe valley leading down to Shut Mill. The house and farm buildings would have been submerged, but the Severn Trent Water Authority withdrew their plan in 1975. Newhouse Farm was then demolished by the owner, Raymond Webb, who converted the barn on the right into a house.
