Memories of Mrs Claire McCloskey (nee Hodgetts) - Pupil - 1980s

I only spent one year at St. Kenelm's Primary School, before moving on to Hagley Middle School, but my memories of my time in the school are strong and vivid, perhaps because many of the features that had an impact on me contrasted with my experiences at my previous primary school.

I remember the people, teachers, support staff and what I now know to have been volunteers, each played their part in creating a friendly, supportive and nurturing environment. I was immediately welcomed and I settled in without any issues; being made welcome by both the boys and girls and making good friends quickly. It made an impression on me that the Headteacher actually taught and that he knew everyone by name as well as being able to pass comment on something you had done or were involved in when he spoke to you. I remember enjoying the sports activities and swimming lessons with Mrs. Freeman, who many years later produced the most beautiful flowers and arrangements for my wedding.

My memories of St. Kenelm's are all good ones!
